Juan López Selección nº 1 es un Habano de aspecto rústico. Su capa, compuesta por 3 hojas, es de un colorado-claro ligeramente veteado. Es totalmente artesanal. La cabeza es perfectamente plana. La vitola es firme al tacto, prueba de que las hojas de tabaco han sido bien compactadas. Contiene pequeñas protuberancias. En cuanto a la sensación aromática general de este cigarro, desprende un delicioso olor a tabaco ligeramente tostado, así como un sabor ligeramente dulce a galleta graham.

Antes de encenderlo, el Habano Juan López Selección nº 1 desprende el aroma del cedro cubano, a la vez que es rico en notas terrosas. Sin embargo, estos aromas no dominan, ya que en el fondo se puede detectar el refrescante aroma del limón, una nota floral, un matiz herbáceo y un toque de canela. En boca, aún antes de encenderlo, el puro deja una sutil sensación picante en los labios, atenuando el sabor a tabaco y cuero. Y si el fumador apura el puro, puede sentir en su paladar el sabor de la miel, los frutos secos y el chocolate con leche.

La gama de aromas del Seleccion nº 1 es igual de rica una vez encendido. El 1er tercio está dominado por el olor a cedro cubano. Se matiza con una multitud de aromas que forman una alquimia perfecta: pan tostado, limón, miel, azúcar, caramelo de mantequilla salada, fragancia floral, hierba, heno, pimienta negra y blanca. En el 2º tercio, las notas terrosas y amaderadas son aún más dominantes. Los toques florales son más discretos, mientras que el caramelo de mantequilla salada y el olor a carne a la parrilla son más pronunciados. También hay un toque de hierba. En el último tercio, el perfil aromático no cambia demasiado. El cigarro se vuelve mucho más fuerte. Los aromas amaderados secos siguen presentes, pero se enriquecen con notas especiadas, sobre todo de canela. El aroma a hierba también está muy presente.

The cigar is firm to the touch, proof that the tobacco leaves have been well packed. It contains small bumps. As for the general aromatic impression of this cigar, it gives off a delightful scent of lightly toasted tobacco, along with a slightly sweet graham cracker flavor.

Before being lit, the Juan López Selección No. 1 releases the aroma of Cuban cedar, while also being rich in earthy notes. However, these aromas do not dominate, as one can detect in the background the refreshing scent of lemon, a floral note, an herbal nuance, and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, even before lighting, the cigar leaves a subtle spicy sensation on the lips, softening the flavor of tobacco and leather. And if the smoker draws deeply, they may taste hints of honey, nuts, and milk chocolate.

The aromatic range of the Selección No. 1 remains just as rich once lit. The first third is dominated by the scent of Cuban cedar. This is complemented by a multitude of aromas that form a perfect alchemy: toasted bread, lemon, honey, sugar, salted butter caramel, floral fragrance, grass, hay, black and white pepper. In the second third, the earthy and woody notes become more dominant. The floral touches become more discreet, while the salted butter caramel and grilled meat aroma become more pronounced. There’s also a touch of grass. In the final third, the aromatic profile doesn't change much. The cigar becomes much stronger. The dry woody aromas remain present, but are enriched with spicy notes, especially cinnamon. The grassy aroma is also very prominent.
